Plumbing Operations Manager
  • Location: Melbourne VIC (South Eastern Suburbs)

  • Classification: Construction -> Management

  • Work Type: Full time

  • Salary: Competitive Salary Package + Company Vehicle + Fuel Card + Phone & Tablet

About Us

We are a rapidly growing maintenance business specialising in high-volume programmed and responsive plumbing works. Operating across Melbourne’s South Eastern Suburbs, we pride ourselves on exceptional quality workmanship, strong client relationships, and delivering responsive plumbing solutions safely and efficiently.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Plumbing Operations Manager to take charge of our plumbing division and become a key leader within the business.

This is not a desk-based management role.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being out in the field, passing on their knowledge, mentoring employees, and helping drive a growing business forward.

About the Role

This role will become the operational face of our plumbing division.

You will work closely with the Business Owner to take control of day-to-day trades operations, maintain high quality standards, support our field teams, and act as the main point of contact for our valued client base.

Your leadership will allow the Owner to step back from daily operations and focus on growing the company. The successful applicant will spend their time split between the office and the field—visiting sites, interacting with clients, and working directly alongside employees on-site to help them learn new techniques and elevate their skills.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Mentorship

  • Work on-site with employees to teach new techniques and pass your extensive knowledge down to the team.

  • Monitor active programmed and responsive maintenance jobs across the South East.

  • Ensure all plumbing works are completed safely, efficiently, and to compliance standards.

  • Identify and resolve site issues proactively alongside our field staff.

  • Completing all job report cards

Client & Customer Relations

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all plumbing-related works and inquiries.

  • Maintain strong, positive relationships with our existing client base.

  • Manage client concerns and service issues professionally and promptly.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to protect and strengthen our reputation.

Team Leadership & Business Growth

  • Take charge of the day-to-day operations, scheduling, and logistics of the trades team.

  • Lead by example, create accountability, and build a positive team culture.

  • Support the Business Owner directly, taking the reins of the daily grind so they can scale the business.

  • Assist in developing smarter systems and improving operational efficiencies.

About You

The ideal candidate will have done this job before and won't be afraid to lead from the front.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience within a maintenance plumbing background (programmed and responsive).

  • At least 4 years of experience working as a Senior Plumber, Team Lead, or Supervisor.

  • Current Victorian Plumbing Registration/Licensing covering all aspects of plumbing.

  • Previous experience as a Plumbing Operations Manager, Supervisor, or a similar leadership role.

  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with a genuine passion for mentoring and teaching others.

  • Strong communication, relationship management, and problem-solving skills.

  • The ability to take absolute ownership of the day-to-day trades operations.

What We Offer
  • Highly competitive salary package (negotiable based on your experience).

  • Fully maintained company vehicle and fuel card.

  • Company phone and computer.

  • The autonomy to truly run and shape the plumbing division.

  • Direct support and collaboration with the Business Owner.

  • A long-term career opportunity to be a crucial leader in a fast-growing business.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role where your contribution will have a direct impact on the future direction and success of the company.

We are not looking for someone to simply manage jobs from a computer screen. We are looking for an experienced professional to take control of the trades, inspire our team, and help lead the business into its next chapter.

If you’re a seasoned maintenance plumbing professional looking for your next challenge and want to be part of a team that values quality, leadership, and growth—we’d love to hear from you.
